Sri Melur Jaya Restaurant
About This Spot
Stepping into Sri Melur Jaya Restaurant feels like slipping into a familiar, unhurried neighborhood haven where time slows just enough to appreciate the quiet rituals of a good meal shared in comfortable company. Nestled along the bustling stretch of Jln SS19 in Subang Jaya, this Indian eatery carries the pulse of a mamak stall yet holds the calm charm of a well-loved local spot you return to year after year.
The atmosphere here hums with gentle activity rather than frenzy — a steady buzz of conversation, the soft clatter of plates, and the occasional call from the kitchen inviting eager anticipation. Seating is generous and casual, making it a welcome pause from the busy streets outside. While service may at times move with the unhurried pace of days gone by, it adds to the overall feeling of an authentic space where cooking and conversation take their natural course.
Behind those simple walls, Sri Melur Jaya treats its visitors to comforting Indian flavors that echo long-standing traditions without fuss. The air often carries the inviting scent of freshly toasted roti canai — perfectly balanced between crisp layers and tender chewiness — paired effortlessly with thick, aromatic dhal that seems to warm both belly and soul. This is the kind of food that unfolds gradually, revealing familiar spices and subtle nuance in equal measure.
From early morning to late afternoon, the kitchen serves up a medley of dishes that feel both reflective of the local mamak style and gently distinct. That means hearty plates of nasi campur swimming in coconut curry, or the light, airy 'roti banjir' dressed in just the right amount of egg and spice. Drinks such as hot teh tarik or refreshing asam limau become comforting companions to the meal, grounding the experience in simple pleasures.
Visitors often linger here not because of flashy variety or star-studded presentations, but because the space and food create a familiar rhythm—a place where flavors taste like home and the ambiance invites easy return visits. Meals unfold at their own pace, and while the environment may not shout for attention, it offers something arguably rarer: a quiet, steady friendship between kitchen and diner that has endured for decades.

hands down the most delicious place to get dhal. the roti canai was very soft and crispy as well. but for the goreng² and the nasi kandar itself doesn't have anything outstanding and rather boring. the services are kinda slow as some of the staff move slowly. has been going here since 15 years ago and will keep coming

[SIBEH HOLIAO] 1) overall - Indian mamak style restaurant, strategic location, plenty of seating capacity, limited parking, friendly service, ok environment and cleanliness, famous for its Nasi kandar, roti canai, roti tissue, thosai, teh tarik, dhal curry, sambal and many more from Restoran Sri Melur Jaya SS19 Restoran Nasi Kandar Sri Melur Jaya 2) roti canai with dhal curry - fragrant and flanky roti canai, aromatic, dhal curry was nicely cooked not too spicy, all time favourite 3) nasi kandar with fried omelette and fried chicken - fluffy and thick omelette, tasted great, fried cabbage and chicken were very flavourful

The roti and dhal is to die for. Roti is fluffy and crispy and not oily. Dhal is ground into a thick delicious paste. I could have this everyday

Aug 2025 Good roti canai standard at the moment of posting in this area aside from the other 2 mamak outlets within walking distance. Crispy, fluffy bread goes well with hot tea here.

wins by dint of having fresh milk. so superior place for hot beverage. "float banjir" is also good option for light meal. eggs are perfectly cooked, which is to say still jiggly on plate. that and other rotis are, most importantly, available for lunch. apam otoh is large, but most definitely not in charge. santan being dilute and insipid didn't do it any favours. concoction could also have used shot of gula melaka.

One of my go to roti place. The roti canai was fluffy and good flavor, the dhal (yellow) was thick with hints garlic (maybe?) anyway just nice!! Love the sweet and spicy sambal too, teh tarik is strong
